Leadership Assessment Centres and Leadership Effectiveness
Awareness Raising
A Leadership Assessment Centre or Awareness Raising Programme may be used to:
- Create a burning desire to learn - the pre-requisite for real change and effective development programmes
- Identify leadership potential and assist recruitment, selection and succession planning.
- Audit organizational leadership capacity - 'leadership due diligence'
- Develop observers - executives, senior managers and programme 'alumni' trained as observers reflect on their own behaviour and give more effective feedback at work.
Typically participants will be involved in a day of simulations of the major challenges of their leadership role – actors add realism and ‘stress’ to 1:1 communication based simulations. Trained observers record detailed ‘behavioural evidence’ and give specific and meaningful feedback. Thus self-awareness is raised, a pre-requisite for lasting development.
Simulations may be generic or organization-specific activities such as:
- Leaderless and leader appointed team tasks
- Individual written problem solving
- Group problem solving
- Group discussion
- One to one coaching, feedback and development planning sessions
- Customer and/or business partner relationship management simulations
- Presentations
Leadership Development Programmes
Execution speed and quality depends upon aligned, committed teams. This in turn requires organizational leadership capacity to be developed in both depth and breadth throughout the organization – with the 'leadership hierarchy' fully integrated across locations, levels and divisions. Core leadership subject areas are outlined below. These may be delivered ‘off the shelf’ or tailored in content and delivery methodology designed to suit your specific organizational needs. In all cases we maintain a practical focus and build confidence in new ideas through the provision of opportunities for practise and supported/coached application at work. Programmes may include the following subject areas.
- Understanding Leadership: The leader's role and functions and styles of leadership
- Integrating levels of leadership through structure and process
- Understanding people, personality and behaviour and developing emotional intelligence
- Building and maintaining high performing teams and cross-boundary partnerships
- Developing strategy and campaign planning
- Clear thinking: problem solving and aligned decision-making
- Detailed planning and briefing
- Project Management
- Coaching, behavioural observation, feedback and performance management
- Designing organizational structure and aligning accountability with authority
- Recruitment and interviewing
- Relationships and 1:1 communication
- Ethics, integrity, morale, trust and power
Details of typical content and learning methodology will be sent on request.
The Leadership Effectiveness Assessment and Development Programme (LEAD)
The LEAD programme is our tried and tested flagship programme which produces demonstrable results and return on investment. Over four days*, it combines a leadership assessment centre on Day 1 – which creates a burning desire to learn - with immediate organizational leadership capacity development and detailed personal development planning over Days 2 - 4. A series of one-to-one ‘application coaching sessions’on Day 5 and at intervals thereafter ensures immediate transfer of learning to work and starts the creation of ‘application case studies’which will show ROI. When completed by a management team and built around a specific business challenge, the results are both impressive and measurable with impact felt years after delivery. (*The format may vary as rquired, e.g. 3 + 2 day blocks.)
We will work with you to devise a full 'Kirkpatrick' evaluation covering participant reaction, learning, 'new methods' application and adoption, and business impact.
Participants will gain access to a range of online resources and materials and we can foster alumni networks and ongoing development in client organizations are required.
