Sergio Miller

Since 1997, Sergio has been working, for the MOD, as a consultant in the field of simulation training.  During this period, Sergio has mainly been employed on CATT (the Combined Arms Tactical Trainer), the world’s largest defence simulation training system (as recorded in ‘The Guinness Book of Records’). This £500 million project provides the British Army with the capability to train at battlegroup and brigade level, in simulators. Sergio’s role has varied from chief analyst during the procurement and test and acceptance of the system, to providing continuing SME (Subject Matter Expert) support, post the in-service date.

Concurrently, Sergio, who is an ex-Regular Army officer, has continued to serve as a reservist. Roles have included training and command. He is currently employed as an intelligence analyst in the Defence Intelligence Staffs, Whitehall.

Prior to 1997, Sergio was variously employed with BBC Music and Arts, the Foreign Office and the National Rivers Authority. During his Army career Sergio served with the Intelligence Corps in Northern Ireland, with 5 Airborne Brigade, and having passed selection he served with Special Forces. Sergio’s last appointment in the Army was intelligence briefer to the C-in-C British Forces, Air Vice-Marshall Sir Patrick Hine, during Gulf War I.  During his service he was awarded two Commendations for Outstanding Service and gained his military staff qualification.

Sergio was educated in the UK at St Joseph’s College, Ipswich, Oxford University (MA 2:1 English Language and Literature), the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and The Defence Academy, Shrivenham. His personal interests include art (life drawing), flamenco guitar, military history and sky-diving in the summer months. When he was younger, Sergio undertook a number of long distance cycling tours (to Italy, Spain and Switzerland), as well as competing in endurance events such as the Three Peaks Race. He continues to train on a regular basis.
