Justin Featherstone

Justin is a proven empathetic leader, trainer and communicator with extensive experience of leading large teams in multi-cultural, challenging and volatile environments. He is an intuitive and incisive planner and decision-maker, who has delivered leadership and teamwork consultancy to the public, corporate and military sectors, specialising in ethics and inculcating values-based organizational ethos. He has worked with various police forces in the UK, the National School of Government and a number of blue chip corporate oragnisations in a variety of streams from commercial banking to the construction industry.

Commissioned in 1991, he served for eighteen years in the infantry, finishing his time as a Major in 2007. He commanded on operations in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Congo and Iraq. In 2004, he commanded Y Company 1PWRR in Southern Iraq, when his Battle Group was cited as the most frequently attacked British Unit since the Korean War. His final post saw him responsible for all leadership training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, as well as advising on all leadership matters to the wider Army and other Services both within the UK and abroad.

Justin is a regalur media contributor and delivers motivational presentations across the UK. He is also a committed mountaineer and whitewater kayaker and has led, and participated, in over twenty overseas expeditions to the peaks, rivers and rainforests of the world. He continues to feed this passion for the outdoors by leading commercial expeditions and presenting factual television programmes. He is currently training for the Mountain Instructor Award and is a Level 4 kayak Coach.

Justin was awarded the Military Cross for his leadership and gallantry in Iraq in 2004, was made a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 2002 and is a member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning and the Alpine Club. He lives in Devon with his family and errant dog, Tigris, who came back from Iraq with him.
