

John Marsh
John has outstanding coaching, consulting, planning and programme and stakeholder management skills; and a proven track record of delivering complex high profile programmes ahead of their time, cost and performance targets. Clients to date have included Carl Zeiss Optronics, Roke Manor Research Ltd, The Defence Technology and Innovation Centre and the Group CEO of Y&R Brands (Australia and New Zealand).
John left the British Army in September 2007 in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 27 years in the Infantry. During his military career he saw service in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Brunei, Australia, Canada, Kuwait, Germany and Zimbabwe. He has extensive skills and experience in team development, stakeholder relationship management and performance management in a wide variety of leadership and staff positions, including eight years service with Special Forces.
John was a key member of the team that delivered a £400m programme 3 months ahead of schedule, an achievement recognised by being awarded the Minister of Defence Procurement Excellence Award. He also played a pivotal role in re-energising the Royal School of Military Engineering Public Private Partnership, a 30 year £2.5Bn project, with a contribution described by the Chief Executive as “practical, energetic and decisive”.
His final appointment was in the Ministry of Defence where he was responsible for briefing at Board and Ministerial level on highly sensitive operations. In this challenging appointment he demonstrated that he was equally comfortable resolving both complex tactical issues as well as designing broad visionary strategy.

John was educated in the UK at Abingdon School, the University of Exeter (BA (Hons) in Politics), the Royal Military College of Science (GCGI in Military Technology) and the Army Command and Staff Course (MSc equivalent). He is a graduate of the Acquisition Leadership Development Scheme and is also a qualified PRINCE2 and MSP practitioner. He lives in Somerset and his interests include skiing, running, cycling, golf, cooking, travel, the allotment and amateur dramatics.
